This full-time, on-site Qualified Automotive Technician role at Bartons Motor Group in Hastings is a proper dealership gig for trade-qualified mechanics who want to step up from aftermarket workshops. You’ll work on Hyundai, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Nissan, GWM, Chery, MG and LDV – everything from routine servicing to big diagnostics, using the latest tools and factory training. Pay is NZ$32–$40/hr (roughly $66,000–$83,000/year) depending on brands you know, plus overtime, staff buying privileges, health insurance and real career progression. It’s 40–45 hours a week, Monday–Friday with a Saturday roster shared fairly. Job Title

Qualified Automotive Technician / Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Service and repair new & used vehicles.
• Run full diagnostics with factory scan tools.
• Do WOFs and pre-delivery checks.
• Keep workshop clean and jobs on time.
• Talk straight with service advisors and customers.
• Complete manufacturer online training.
• Mentor apprentices when they arrive.
• Jump on the Saturday roster (one in four).

Requirements

Education

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or NZ/Aus equivalent).

Experience

Current dealership or strong independent workshop background.

Skills

• Proper diagnostic brain.
• Clean, fast, high-quality work.
• Good with customers and team banter.
• Self-starter who doesn’t need babysitting.

Qualifications

• Full NZ driver’s licence.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand.

Knowledge

Hyundai, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Nissan, GWM, Chery, MG, LDV experience is gold – but they’ll train the right person.
