Job Overview – Auto Electrician

BHP is currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused Auto Electrician to join its Mobile Equipment Maintenance team at the Newman West mine in the East Pilbara region. This permanent, full-time FIFO position (8 days on, 6 off; 7 nights on, 7 off from Perth) involves carrying out electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment, particularly Cat 793F Haul Trucks. Working in a fast-paced mining environment, the successful candidate will ensure the safe and efficient operation of essential machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems of heavy mobile equipment.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve electrical faults.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Trade Qualified Auto Electrician.
• Experience: Experience with heavy mobile equipment is highly desirable.
• Skills: Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software; experience with CAT equipment is advantageous.
• Licenses: Valid Australian driver’s license; relevant high-risk work licenses are desirable.
• Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
