Responsibilities of Bus Driver:

  • Operating a bus and safely transporting passengers to their destinations
  • Following a planned route and schedule
  • Ensuring the bus is clean and well-maintained
  • Collecting fares and issuing tickets
  • Assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Following all traffic laws and safety regulation.
  • Provide safe transportation to and from organized recreational programs and special request outings.
  • Assist in executing recreational programs as needed.

Eligibility Requirements for Bus Driver:

  • Excellent driving record. Evidence of insurance record for the previous three years to meet carrier requirements.
  • Passing marks on the applicable knowledge tests (note that pursuit of a Class C license involves answering Class D rules of the road questions).
  • Passing mark on the applicable road test at Drive Test or from a recognized authority by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
  • Satisfactory medical examination report, which includes ability to meet vision and hearing standards.
  • Experience driving a 21 or larger passenger seating bus.
  • The ability to understand and perform duties effectively, communicate any pertinent issues regarding residents and their care and work accurately and quickly.
  • Must be willing and able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Self-directed and team-oriented, with proficient organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience for and a genuine interest in seniors and providing enriching recreational opportunities to the residents.
  • Experience in a Retirement setting is desirable.
  • Expresses a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Varied interests in recreation and leisure activities.
  • Must provide a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) document or Medical Note from Physician stating free from infectious disease.
