Carpenter Ōtaki to North of Levin Project New Zealand

This Carpenter job with McConnell Dowell on the massive Ō2NL highway project is a full-time on-site role for experienced formwork carpenters who build bridges, underpasses, and drainage structures in the Kāpiti/Horowhenua region. You’ll erect formwork, pour concrete, set crane pads, assist earthworks, and work under Leading Hands to hit tight schedules safely. Roster is 5–6 days/week, long days (10–12 hrs). Pay is NZ$35–$42/hr (AU$220K–$260K/year possible with OT), plus full wet-weather gear, site allowances, and RDOs. You need 5+ years formwork on civil projects and a great safety record. Responsibilities

• Build formwork for bridges/underpasses.
• Strip and clean forms after pours.
• Work 10–12 hour days, 5–6 days/week.
• Assist crane pad and hardstand setup.
• Cart materials and spot machinery.
• Support drainage and RSC works.
• Follow daily safety toolbox.
• Keep site tidy and organised.
• Report hazards instantly.
• Team up for big pours.

Requirements

Education

Trade qualification preferred.

Experience

5+ years formwork on civil sites.

Qualifications

• Full NZ work rights.
• Site Safe or ConstructSafe.

Skills

• Read formwork drawings fast.
• Work at heights and confined.

• Lift 25 kg repeatedly.
• Stay calm in wet/windy weather.
