Tail Gate Driver Job in Canada

Cascades is looking for responsible tail gate driver to join their team in Canada! This role involves driving a commercial truck with a hydraulic lift or unloading platform on the back. Your day will be focused on safely delivering goods and using the tailgate to efficiently unload them at customer locations. This could involve operating the lift, securing cargo with straps or chains, and interacting with clients to ensure a smooth delivery process. Responsibilities of Tail Gate Driver:

  • Operate forklift to stack bales and pallets as necessary.
  • Arrive at work well rested, mentally and physically well prepared to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Carry out inspection tours before and after transport in accordance with the detailed inspection sheet.
  • Ensure that the truck and trailers used are in good condition.
  • Immediately report any equipment defect that could compromise the safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Report any damage to the vehicle, its contents or the property of others caused by an accident in which the vehicle is involve.
  • As a company representative, it is important to always present a neat appearance and demonstrate courtesy to customers.
  • Ensure that all cargo transport is load in a safe and secure manner.
  • Completes all work-related documentation including itineraries, work orders, weigh tickets, mileage log and logbook.

Requirements for Tail Gate Driver:

  • Valid class 1 driving license.
  • Valid forklift card.
  • Have driving experience for at least 6 months.
  • Great sense of organization
  • Good knowledge of the city and surrounding areas (an asset).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Have initiative, resourcefulness and other autonomy.

Additional Information:

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Exposure to very restricted and narrow places.
  • Knowledge of truck mechanics, to notify future breakdowns on the truck and forklift.
  • When driving a semi-trailer:
  • Pick up materials from pallets or replace paper containers or other recycled materials.
  • Once the trailer is loaded, ensure the load is properly secured and delivered to the factory as directed by the dispatcher.
  • Perform unloading and reloading for the next transport.
  • Operate forklift to stack bales and pallets as necessary.
