Job Overview
As an Apprentice Plumber at PR Mechanical Ltd., you will be involved in installing and repairing domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems. Your responsibilities will include reading blueprints and specifications to determine system layouts, marking positions for pipe connections and fixtures, cutting openings in walls and floors, joining pipes using various techniques, testing pipes for leaks, and determining piping system requirements and pipe sizing. The role requires physical stamina, as tasks may involve bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
Qualifications
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1 to less than 2 years in plumbing or related field.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
- Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes to required angles using hand and power tools or machines.
- Assembling and installing pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment for water distribution, waste disposal, and gas systems.
- Cutting openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Testing pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
- Repairing and maintaining domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems.
- Interpreting and following building codes and safety regulations on job sites.
- Assisting journeyperson plumbers and following instructions with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Keeping the worksite clean and organized to maintain a safe environment.
