Job Overview

Horizon Networks is seeking a qualified High Voltage Electrician / Cable Joiner for a full-time, permanent position based in Whakatāne. This role involves providing field-based technical and electrical services for network and third-party clients, including maintenance and projects. Key responsibilities include specialist HV and LV jointing services for the installation, maintenance, and repair of transmission and distribution cables, as well as installation works on substation equipment, ground-mounted switchgear, and transformers. The position also entails undertaking electrical distribution faults and repairs for the network and performing stay-away works as requested by the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specialist High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) cable join tingand termination services, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Install, maintain, and repair substation equipment, ground-mounted switchgear, and transformers.
• Carry out electrical distribution faults and repair across the Horizon Networks area.
• Support field service projects and ensure work is completed in line with safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Work independently or in teams to complete project work and stay-away assignments as required by the business.
• Provide exceptional service to both network and third-party clients.

 Requirements

• Registered Electrician (EWRB) with at least 2 years of experience.
• Experience in jointing XLPE cables up to 33kVand paper lead cables up to 11kV (preferred).
• Current NZ driver’s license(manual). Class 2 or 4 license is advantageous.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.
• Capable of working in physically demanding environments and varying weather conditions.
• Effective team player with excellent communication skills.
